Liberty Investigates is an editorially independent investigative journalism unit based within Liberty. We publish stories to reveal human rights abuses, expose wrongdoers, and empower people to create positive change. We cover topics ranging from policing and counter-terrorism to mass surveillance and the hostile environment, disability rights, the rights of nomadic people and beyond.
"Our stories aim to hold power to account"
Founded in 2019, Liberty Investigates is a small, dedicated team of investigative journalists publishing in-depth stories exposing hidden human rights abuse in the UK.
Investigative journalism has long been a vital tool in shining a light on injustice and fighting for a fairer society. But the profession has been in decline.
That’s where Liberty comes in. Liberty has defended everyone’s rights and freedoms since 1934, and Liberty Investigates is the natural next step.
We are committed to accurate, high-impact journalism in the public interest.
As well as bearing witness to wrongdoing, our stories aim to hold power to account and spark positive change.
Liberty Investigates is made up of Katharine Quarmby, Mirren Gidda and Eleanor Rose.
We are editorially independent and funded by Liberty. If you want to support our journalism, you can donate to Liberty.
